"Coffeeweed" - An alternate common name for common chicory (Cichorium intybus) because the roots can be baked, ground, and used as a coffee substitute. Chicory is a common, but beautiful roadside wildflower species, as it thrives in disturbed areas. It is also a great livestock forage and may be toxic to intestinal parasites, working as a natural dewormer. Chicory flowers are highly transient, lasting only a day or less during hot weather.
