SemipalmatedForagingLogan1BW.tif
Each year hundreds of thousands of shorebirds arrive in the Delaware Bay to feed on the eggs of spawning horseshoe crabs. This semipalmated sandpiper (Calidris pusilla) was part of a flock of sandpipers feeding on eggs at the Logan Tract of the Ted Harvey Conservation Area, Kitts Hummock, Delaware. A spawning crab is visible in the background. Black and white image.
